About the Event
Medmerry is one of Europe's largest coastal realignment schemes. In the summer its fields are bordered with swards of wildflowers🌸🌼 Join me for a morning Butterfly and Bee Safari around the reserve to spot insects and learn what they are. You'll find out where butterflies and bees live and which flowers are their favourites. We will also cover a bit of botany by identifying wildflowers using simple techniques. (There's plenty of coastal, estuarine and farmland birds to spot, too!) This is an all-rounder workshop where we can cover a bit of everything. You will be in a small group to make for a better learning experience.
Suitable for all abilities and ages. See prices below. Under 18s must be supervised by an adult. 👩👧👦 Maximum of two children per one adult. 🐕 Dogs on leads are very welcome, just bear in mind there isn't much shade if it is a hot day.
How to get there: Meet in the free RSPB car park, Drove Lane, Earnley, just down the lane from Earnley Church. PO20 7JN. The car park is very pot-holey so go slow when you drive in!
How to book: Select the number of attendees below and pay online. Or email me imprintecology@gmail.com to book your space and pay via bank transfer.
What to bring: Sturdy boots (we will be walking around the reserve), suncream, water, sanitiser, binoculars, butterfly/bumblebee nets if you have them.
What if it rains? In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled and you will be notified 24 hours before via email.
About the tutor: Hi, I'm Emily. I'm a freelance ecologist, I work for Bumblebee Conservation Trust and hold a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and a post-grad certificate in Ecological Consultancy. I began teaching wildlife workshops in 2019 and my approach has always been fun, informal and effective for students who wish to foster a deeper connection with nature. I have a soft-spot for bumblebees, solitary bees, butterflies, bats, trees and wildflowers. I am a friendly and welcoming teacher who loves to share my passion for nature through engaging, outdoor learning.
